Have you created a customized solution for research? Software? A gadget? A life-changing protocol? Your creation might also be useful for someone else. Come and share it at the 2nd edition of the Cool Tools for Science, a great chance to show and exchange a new dimension of your work: user innovation. Tell us about your inventions and how they improved your research performance, exhibit them to your colleagues and see what they have come up with too. And try to win the prize for the best innovation!

To give you a taster, last year we showcased, amongst others, videogames, a water sensor, a social network app, a text mining tool, an automated plasma applicator, a careers marketplace, a video annotator, an animal tracker and a microbiome analysis app!

Last year’s winners with the Oligo App, Hedi Young and Nuno Loureiro, stated that [Since Cool Tools] We’ve completely redesigned the website and added more features based on feedback from our users, and we’re excited to be releasing the new version in the next month! Cool Tools helped us expand our network and since the event we’ve had conversations with several companies including Agendo and have some exciting collaborations in the pipeline.”

You can submit your Cool Tool for a pitch (this year in a short-creative-video-format – see below) or, if you want to show how your Cool Tool works, for a pitch and a demonstration workshop.

To help you showcase your tool at its best we will offer a free online video creation workshop with Miguel Ferreira on 22-29 March 2021 and some advice on how to protect your tools in advance of the main meeting.

If you don’t have your own Cool Tool to present but want to see what other people have developed, register NOW and join us online 12th and 13th May 2021, two mornings, from 10 am to 1 pm.

Come see and try out our Cool Tools!
